The Parish Priests of St Ignatius

Since the Parish was founded in 1859, it is a remarkable fact that there have been only ten Parish priests and two of these were in charge for less than a year, and one for just under four years!

• Very Rev. John Canon Mc Cay 1860 - 1893

• Rev. Joseph Van Hecke 1893 - 1927

• Right Rev. Mgr Octavius F. Claeys 1928 - 1928

• Very Rev. Thomas Canon Kearney 1929 - 1966

• Right Rev. Mgr John O ' Donnell 1967 - 1984

• Very Rev. Patrick Canon Mc Govern 1984 - 1998

• Right Rev. Mgr Michael J. Conway 1998 - 2012

• Rev. Fr. Gerard H. Maguiness 2012 - 2020

• Rev. Fr. Stephen Rooney 2020 - 2024

• Rev. Fr. Kevin Lawrie 2024 - present

In 2024, with Fr Rooney being made Parish Priest in Carluke, Fr Krzysztof Garwolinski, Parish Priest of St. Patrick's Shieldmuir, was made Administrator of St.Ignatius, until the appointment of Fr. Lawrie who is also the Parish Priest of St. Thomas, Wishaw.
